Project Information
Are you related to other Utena fanprojects?Nope! The head mods for this project are just two friends who got really excited about sharing our love for Utena on a whim, and the rest was history.
Why Tarot?Tarot has a long and rich history that is full of ideas of how we, as people, conduct ourselves and what we choose to do with the time we have. It can be seen as guidance, a little push in the right direction, or to help a person really think about aspects of their life. Utena is deeply rooted in the symbolism of growth and change, life and death, joy and despair. With iconic, bold imagery, doing a tarot deck seemed like the obvious choice!
What do art contributors do?Contributor applications will be open from March 5th - April 5th.
Applying artists will be judged on their understanding of anatomy, color, backgrounds/background elements and design/composition.
If chosen, artists will go through the creation phase with all of their peers. Contributors will be expected to draw 2-3 cards, and will have the option to showcase their sketch/process work in our final booklet, as well as write an artist statement per card of why they made the choices that they did, about the cards symbolism/meaning, etc..We will be looking for 25-35 artists to contribute card art.
What do merch contributors do?Merch contributor applications are also open March 5th - April 5th. Instead of supplying illustrations, merch artists should submit 3-5 pieces of product that they have created, a variety of types of product is recommended. Contributing merch artists will work with mods to create 1-3 pieces of product that will be manufactured and be part of our final package set.We will be looking for 2-3 merch artists to contribute to this project.
Is there an age requirement?We would like you to be 18+ at the time of contributor announcement, due to the nature of the original content.
Is this project for profit?It is our intention to have this project be paid via full package (deck, booklet, merch) with shipping covered to those participating on the project. Any additional sales made will be evenly split between all mods and contributors. However, there is always a possibility that this project will not reach its various funding levels - if this occurs, all participants will be able to purchase the final products at cost.
